Tom Cruise successfully managed to have the whole of Trafalgar Square in London closed off yesterday morning (November 25) in order to shoot a new scene for his forthcoming film All You Need Is Kill.

Trafalgar Square is one of the busiest areas of central London, but Cruise and the team behind the sci-fi film didn’t seem to mind, as they managed to get the whole place shut off whilst they filmed for the upcoming movie. The NME reports that Cruise was seen coming down from the sky in an RAF helicopter which landed right in the famous area. The actor was then seen emerging from the helicopter in full military uniform and then filmed further scenes which seemed to largely consist of him marching around the square (what, no running?)

The film is based on a Japanese novel of the same name, and stars Cruise as a solider fighting a war with aliens. The tale takes a decidedly Groundhog Day-esque twist when his character becomes stuck in a time loop meaning that he has to relive the battle’s final day over and over again. Which to be honest, sounds utterly terrible. He’s joined on the cast by Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton, the film set for release on March 14, 2014.
