Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s star turn as the host of the Golden Globes last Sunday (January 13) could well – despite one of their own jokes – lead to them returning to run proceedings again next year.

After three years of Ricky Gervais’ grim humor and cold-hearted mickey-taking, the Golden Globes were desperate for a change and former 'Saturday Night Live' partners Fey and Poehler gave them a positive one, dispensing with the jibes but doing so in a good-natured way that quickly got the crowd on side. So, in spite of them quipping “as Ricky found the hard way, when you fall afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host the show two more times”, it looks like they could well be back next year.  The pair roasted Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow, Taylor Swift and Daniel Day-Lewis during their opening speech, but their jokes were taken in good spirit by the three, and the consensus would appear to be that they should come back.

However, according to The Sun Times, there may be one person who could replace them should their schedules not permit their return: Sacha Baron Cohen. “He’s edgy, he’s very funny and he’s a Brit. Seems perfect for the Hollywood Foreign Press,” said an insider who worked with the actor on The Dictator last year. “I hope they get Tina and Amy back, but Sacha wouldn’t be a bad substitute.”
