Hollywood star Tim Roth is convinced tragic rapper Tupac Shakur could have become a great actor.

The pair starred together in 1997 drugs comedy GRIDLOCK'D - which was released a year after Shakur was murdered in 1996.

And Roth admits after initial hostility to the idea of musician turning to acting, he and the rapper became unlikely friends.

The PULP FICTION star says, "I didn't even want him to be in the film - I didn't know who he was. I just wanted an actor not a musician. But we went to a restaurant and he came in with this enormous entourage and he sat down and auditioned for us. He knew so much about the role and I got on with him like a house on fire.

"There are tapes of me and him rapping together at DEATH ROW records. I hope they've been burned though. It was one of the nicest relationships I've had with another actor.

"I found him to be incredibly talented. I think he could have gone on to be quite something as an actor."
