He recently starred in the Christian film 'The Shack'.
It's not an uncommon occurrence for established musicians to embark on acting careers; bottom line is it's all essentially the same job - entertaining the public. For Tim Mcgraw, it was an almost reluctant step that he only took when he was sure his music career was safe.

The Country Music Television awards had some pretty stand-out moments.

Carrie Underwood takes home two awards at the CMT Music Awards
Unsurprisingly, 33-year-old Carrie Underwood's Canadian Country Chart topper 'Smoke Break' has landed her Female Video Of The Year at the Country Music Television awards, with her performance on the TV series 'Instant Jam' earning her CMT Performance Of The Year. The singer also wowed the audience with a rendition of her brand new single 'Church Bells', taken from her number one fifth album 'Storyteller'.
Tim McGraw will perform the song at Sunday’s ceremony.
Country legend Glen Campbell is among the Oscar nominees this Sunday, in the best original song category for ‘I'm Not Gonna Miss You’, from the documentary film Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me. The song was written by the singer about his struggle with alzheimer’s disease after being diagnosed in 2011 and it features at the end of the documentary which follows his final tour.

Sunday will be a bittersweet night for the 71 year old’s family, as his wife and daughter will attend the ceremony on his behalf. Campbell now lives in a care facility and his wife told ABC News that these days, the singer is doing very well physically but cognitively, he's declined "quite a bit.”

Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill are not getting a divorce after 17 years of marriage.
The country music power couple have now addressed the rumours to set the record straight.
They were both performing in Las Vegas on Friday night (15th) and as always, finished their set with a loving kiss.
Ahead of the ceremony, Taylor was announced to receive another distinction.
Taylor Swift and the CMAs – it’s a match made in heaven and one that continues to reap accolades for the young singer. Ahead of tonight’s show, Swift is up for six whole awards. And while she is a favorite to win big (yet again) Taylor also has one in the bag already. The Country Music Association has decided to also honor the singer with the Pinnacle Award for her success, E! News reports. The world may change, but it's reassuring to know that the Country Music Awards still belong to Swift. There can be little argument about that.
The Pinnacle Award is a special distinction, given to artists, who have achieved international success and recognition, as well as record sales of country music. Since country is usually quite a region-specific genre, the award is a very rare honor, given to only the most successful of performers. To give you a bit of perspective, the only other Pinnacle Award laureate is Garth Brooks, after the award was created in 2005. So it's all very exciting for the young singer, who has achieved unparalleled success with her most recent album, RED, and the subsequent sold out tour.
Besides the distinction, Taylor is also nominated for Entertainer, Female Vocalist, Album, Song, Music Video, Musician and Musical Event of the Year, with the song, video and event nominations being for her work on the Tim Mcgraw song Highway Don’t Care. Blake Shelton is the other favorite, with five nominees. The awards will be broadcast tonight at 6pm PST on ABC.

Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry are among the names confirmed for the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas in September. The two-day festival, set to be held on September 20 and 21, will also feature performances from Elton John, Keith Urban and a special pairing of Queen (with Brian May) and the former American Idol star Adam Lambert.
The main festival line-up was announced on Monday morning (July 15, 2013) in a press conference hosted by Ryan Seacrest. A final schedule will be announced closer to the festival, though Timberlake, Perry, Elton and Bruno Mars are likely to be the marquee names. The likes of Muse, Tiesto, Chris Brown, Fun, Phoenix, Maroon 5, Tim Mcgraw, Ke&ha, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Benny Benassi are other high profile names to have been confirmed.
Last year's festivals played host to No Doubt, Pink, Usher and Swedish House Mafia though it will be remembered for Billie Joe Armstrong's meltdown during Green Day's set. After smashing the band's instruments in protest of his set being cut short, Armstrong left the stage and was admitted to rehab the next day, cancelling his band's tour dates and promotional appearances.
It was a gig to remember for country fans.
These days Taylor Swift is an unstoppable force in pop, but she made it clear that she hasn’t forgotten her country roots when she teamed up with Tim Mcgraw and Keith Urban at the 2013 CMA Music Festival in Nashville this weekend, The LA Times reports. Taylor joined McGraw for a performance of his latest single, Highway Don’t Care, which is a collab between McGraw, Urban and Swift herself, and sounds like a cross between a ballad and a PSA for careful driving. It is a pretty catchy tune though and the trio managed to do it justice with their live performance.
At first, Swift appeared onstage alone to perform an homage to her idol – one of her first hits, “Time McGraw” after which the man himself materialised on stage and the two launched into the emotional performance of Highway Don’t Care. Urban popped by soon after for the ballad’s guitar solo. After their appearance, all three musicians were ecstatic and didn’t fail to share the feeling with their fans over Twitter.
“Such a blast joining @TheTimMcGraw and @taylorswift13 tonite at #CMAfest!!! Ready to rock Saturday!!! –KU,” tweeted Urban after the show. For a snippet of their number together, check out the video below.
Tim McGraw is being sued by his former label for... well, for quitting.
Country voice Tim Mcgraw is being sued by his former label for using songs he reportedly recorded while with them – not a good way to kick off a new album for sure. McGraw’s “Two Lanes of Freedom” is a chart topper, but it’s also getting the singer into quite a bit of trouble, as Curb, McGraw’s former label, is crying copyright infringement on the album’s fifteen tracks – including hits like “Truck Yeah!” “One of Those Nights” and “Highway Don’t Care.” The claim was filed late Monday in the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and, if the company can prove that the songs were recorded whole McGraw was still under contract, this could turn into a serious lawsuit.
“Two Lanes of Freedom” is McGraw’s first album with his new label, Big Machine Records. It was released earlier this year – February 15 to be precise – and quickly rose to the top of Billboard’s country chart.
The legal battle between Curb and McGraw has been going on for a while now. The label, which has distributed the singer’s music since the distant 1997, claimed that McGraw’s planned move to Big Machine would cause the company irreparable harm. However, the case didn’t hold up and in 2012 a judge ruled that the cash cow of a performer was free to move to Big Machine. The outcome wasn’t good for Curb, so maybe this new lawsuit is driven by a bit of leftover bitterness.

Country singer Tim Mcgraw used to drink a lot, he confesses to People, but with the help of his family he's turned that around and now ploughs a lot of energy into working out and his career.
Now age 45, McGraw entirely quit drinking five years ago. "I drank a lot from my point of view and I needed to stop," he said. Let alone for the good of his career, he had plenty of reason to quit, for his wife, Faith Hill, and his three daughters. "I felt quitting was something I needed to do. I didn't feel I had any moral high ground with my kids in the long run."
He replaced drinking with a strict workout regime and plenty of exercise. "Working out is a great way to go out on stage," he says, and is great for his job. "When I hit the stage, my adrenaline is going and I'm ready."
