Actor Thomas Gibson has been fired from CBS' drama 'Criminal Minds' after an on-set altercation with one of the show's writers earlier this week. Gibson was initially facing a two-episode suspension following the incident in which he kicked a member of the writing team, but the actor has now been dismissed from the series after 11 seasons.

In a statement producers ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios said: "Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from 'Criminal Minds'. Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”
On Thursday Gibson was given a two-episode suspension from the show. After news of his suspension broke the actor told Deadline: “There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.”
According to reports, Gibson was directing an episode of the show’s upcoming 12th season when he had an on-set dispute with a writer. Insiders say that the two then got into an argument which quickly escalated and Gibson ‘instinctively’ kicked the writer in the shin.
Deadline adds that this was not Gibson’s first on-set incident. A few years back he also allegedly pushed assistant director Ian Woolf and was ordered to attend anger management classes to remain on the show.
