Up All Night
Young Knives hurl themselves into 2008 with a new track, ‘Up All Night’ released on February 25th 2008 through Transgressive Records.
In typical, Young Knives fashion they’ve produced a single that seamlessly blends pop harmonies and hooks, with bitingly intelligent lyrics. ‘Up All Night’ is an anthemic tale of the mysterious, powder-snorting media types Young Knives have come across in the past 18 months. Howled, Undertones style harmonies usher in the band’s new, fuller sound before dropping into the kind of crunching guitar anthem they have made their own.
Though Young Knives have lost none of their caustic bite - “‘Cos everybody looks famous / and they’d be wasting lots of time / Everyone looks special tonight / Up all night” – their fine eye for astute and cynical observations is countered by a new found mastery of pop sensibilities.
This single is just a small taster of the hugely exciting, classic, second album from the band: ‘Superabundance’ released March 10th – the follow up to their Mercury music prize nominated debut album, ‘Voices of Animals & Men’.
