Soul star Richard Street has died at a hospital in Las Vegas a week after longtime friend and The Temptations bandmate Damon Harris.

Street, who was a member of the Motown supergroup for 25 years, passed away early on Wednesday (27Feb13) of a pulmonary embolism. He was 70.

A Detroit, Michigan native, the singer worked in the record label's quality control department and recorded with his group The Monitors before joining The Temptations in the early 1970s as Paul Williams' replacement. He performed with the Papa Was a Rollin' Stone hitmakers until the mid-1990s.

Reports suggest Street was close to completing a memoir when he died.

Bandmate Harris lost a 14-year battle with prostate cancer at the age of 62 on 18 February (13).
