We can't get enough of the infectious retro sound of The Struts' newest song 'I Hate How Much I Want You', featuring Phil Collen and Joe Elliott of the one and only Def Leppard. It's set to feature on their forthcoming third album 'Strange Days', out on October 16th through Interscope Records.
The track opens with a phonecall between frontman Luke Spiller and Joe Elliot (self-confessed "King of the Leppards"), as the former asks the latter if he would lend his iconic voice to their newest track. It seems the Leppards really didn't need much persuading on that front - passing the torch to The Struts is easy when they really are honorary classics.
The Derbyshire band have already released two other collaborative singles ahead of their new album; the first being 'Another Hit of Showmanship' with Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, and the second being their titular number 'Strange Days' with (rather inexplicably) Robbie Williams, for which they've also released a video directed by Chris Applebaum.
The new record will show how far The Struts have come since their 2014 debut 'Everybody Wants' and its 2018 follow-up 'Young & Dangerous', and it seems the COVID-19 pandemic has not affected their ability to drop a catchy hook; indeed, 'Strange Days' may seem them at their catchiest yet.
With her fifth studio album 'Infinite Things' set to be released later this year, Paloma Faith unveils a music video for her newest song 'Better Than...
'The Great Escape' was released on this day (September 11th) in 1995.
