Irish rockers The Script were forced to cancel a gig in Australia over the weekend (11-12Oct14) after the stage collapsed.

The Breakeven hitmakers were due to perform at the end of the Beck Caulfield Guineas Day sporting event at Melbourne Racing Club on Saturday (11Oct14) but had to axe their appearance due to safety fears following the drama.

Frontman Danny O'Donoghue wrote on Twitter.com, "Stage collapsed tonight, thank god no one was injured. Sorry to everyone who came out in support, well be back soon (sic). Promise."

A spokesman from the club tells Australia's Herald Sun newspaper, "The Script were unable to play at the conclusion of Beck Caulfield Guineas Day after one corner of one section of the stage, engaged and operated by the touring company, collapsed."
