Ahead of their headline slot at the BBC 6 Music Festival on April 1st Pixies have released their first new music in 18 months with their latest single - 'Human Crime'. The Boston based 'Debaser' band, who have enjoyed a huge resurgence since their reformation in 2004, last released a new track in September of 2020 when they shared 'Here Me Out'.
Pixies last full length album, the band's seventh, came out in February 2020 and contained the brilliant singles 'On Graveyard Hill' and 'Catfish Kate'. Pixies latest single is equally as good as either of those tracks and paves the way for more new music and potentially another new album later this year.
News of the new Pixies track was flagged up by a few snippets that the band shared on social media on February 25th with a message that read - "keep your eyes peeled next week for something new". Both the song and the video, directed by the band's bassist of nine years Paz Lenchantin, premiered on March 2nd to very positive reviews. Luciano Schwab captured the thoughts of many fans when he said - "A new Pixies song is always a new reason to be thankful to life".
The video for The Pixies new song was filmed at the San Pedro abandoned bunkers and Santa Monica’s Gold Diggers Bar in LA. Bassist and video director Lenchantin said that - "The storyline is loosely based on an ‘inside joke’ between Charles and I about going on tour. How we go through a door from our reality state into the altered state of becoming and being a Pixie".
As well as being booked in to play The Great Hall in Cardiff for the 6 Music festival, Pixies also have live dates scheduled for later in the year at 'Sounds Of The City' in Manchester, 'British Summer Time' in Hyde Park, 'Summer Nights' in Glasgow and The 'Bingley Weekender' at Bradford & Bingley Sports Club.
