What's new in the music world this week?
If you're in Asia or certain areas of Europe, you should probably re-evaluate your gig plans for this year as the coronavirus has forced artist after artist to cancel some of their tour dates. But in better news, Lady GaGa has a new song and it feels like a blast from the past.
The Eurovision Song Contest will roll around again on May 12th 2020, and this year's representative for the UK has been announced as the Yorkshire-born James Newman. If the name sounds familiar, it's because he's the older brother of Love Me Again hitmaker John Newman. James will be singing a ballad entitled My Last Breath at this year's competition.
Sometimes you can see one but not the other.
We can't be the only ones to get stressed when asked "What kind of music do you like?". Literally everything. That's the answer. We have what is known as eclectic taste, which means that organising an itinerary for something like Glastonbury leaves us with some very difficult decicions. Here are the most painful clashes we've seen on this year's bill.
1. Stormzy and Tame Impala (22:15 - 23:45)

Celebrating the gothic rock movement of the 80s and beyond.
World Goth Day is a time to celebrate one of the most iconic music genre movements (and indeed fashion aesthetics) of the 20th century; a movement succeeding the rebellious punk scene, and one that incorporated both experimental and pop aspects to extremely dark effect. Read on for your ultimate goth-influenced playlist:
Arabian Knights - Siouxsie And The Banshees
Siouxsie Sioux was in the vanguard of post-punk, dropping the Banshee's debut album The Scream in 1978. By 1981's landmark record Juju, they had really come into their own, and second single Arabian Knights really highlighted their sensational pop-goth aesthetic.

The 34th annual induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame takes place in March.
The 34th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is to take place on March 29th 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Def Leppard, and The Zombies will be joining the trio to complete the annual seven names who are granted entry into the Hall of Fame.
The unfortunate nominees who missed out this year are Rage Against the Machine, Kraftwerk, MC5, Rufus & Chaka Khan, LL Cool J, Devo, Todd Rundgren, and John Prine.

Those lucky enough to be attending the 25th annual Meltdown Festival this month, with the 2018 edition being curated by The Cure's Robert Smith, may have managed to catch an extra special set by Placebo. They performed a stunning rendition of 'Let's Go To Bed', and it was the most perfect tribute.
Placebo perform at Latitude
The London rockers hit the Southbank Centre on Saturday (June 16th 2018) for a set at Robert Smith's Meltdown Festival, having been friends of The Cure frontman for many years now. They played 'Let's Go To Bed'; a non-album single released in 1982 which was originally recorded for The Cure's 'Pornography' album sessions.

Brandon Flowers' brother has been encouraging him to revisit The Killers' new single 'Run For Cover' for years.
Brandon Flowers' brother has been encouraging him to record 'Run For Cover' for years.
The Killers frontman first penned the track - which is about the story of a senator who mistreats his wife - in 2008 when the group were recording their third album 'Day & Age' but he wasn't satisfied with his efforts and set it aside.
He admitted: ''I was never happy with the second verse -- so we put it on the backburner.''

The album is the follow-up to 2008's 4:13 Dream, though the tracks were also recorded six years ago - Smith says he should have stuck to his guns and released a double album.

The Cure follow recent Albert Hall sell out with announcement of new album and 'Trilogy' tour.

The new album, set to be released some time later this year, was recorded at the same time as 2008’s '4:13 Dream'. Whilst details are vague at this point, it is thought a live concert DVD will also be released in the coming months.
What can we expect from another double weekend at Austin City Limits Festival?
Austin City Limits Music Festival is set to hit Texas for its twelfth year, bringing with it two weekends of fabulous live music and family fun.
The festival organisers first decided to spread the fun out over two weekends last year, in a bid to welcome yet more people into this unique world, and it appears that they haven't gone back on their word as they are set to return to Zilker Park on October 4th - 6th and 11th - 13th. This year sees some impressive headline acts including Depeche Mode, The Cure, Muse and Kings Of Leon - and if that wasn't exciting enough, Atoms For Peace, Lionel Richie, Phoenix and Wilco are also high up on this year's bill! Some of the other acts scattered around are just as jaw-droppingly impressive, not to mention extremely diverse. We have Californian rockers Queens Of The Stone Age, country star Hank Williams Jr.'s daughter Holly Williams, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, LA sisters Haim, alt-folk group Thao & The Get Down Stay Down Nottingham singer Jake Bugg and legendary 'Gay Bar' hitmakers Electric Six.
