The Allman Brothers star Gregg Allman is to be feted with a Living Legend award at the upcoming Classic Rock Roll Of Honour ceremony.

The rocker will join Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper, among other recipients of the trophy, on 4 November (14) in Hollywood.

He says, "I am so very honoured to be receiving this award from Classic Rock. The magazine is one of my favourites and they are always so generous to me and the Brothers."

Publication editor Sian Llewellyn adds, "Gregg has touched the lives of rock fans all over the globe for over four decades. I'm thrilled that we can call him Classic Rock Magazine's Living Legend 2014."

The accolade comes during a difficult year for Allman - his movie biopic Midnight Rider was stalled in February (14) following the death of a camera assistant on the set of the film. Sarah Jones was filming in Georgia, when she was hit and killed by a train. Allman attempted to pull the film from production altogether after the fatal accident.
