Taylor Swift's 23rd birthday turned out to really be one to beat, with a whole host of good news and celebrations, as well as one bizarre turn of events.

She celebrated with her unofficial boyfriend Harry Styles in the north of England yesterday (14th Dec.), where he bought her a custom variety of 23 cupcakes (there's a theme going there). They had a driving tour of the stunning English countryside, before heading to the George & Dragon pub in Great Budworth for a bite to eat, reports E!

As well as spending a lovely day with her beau, Swift also received another enormous birthday present in the form of a coveted Golden Globe nomination for 'Best Original Song' in a movie, for her Hunger Games track 'Safe&Sound'. She tweeted about her surprise and delight saying: "Best birthday surprise EVER-just found out that Safe&Sound is nominated for a GOLDEN GLOBE!! Thank you @goldenglobes and HFPA! #hungergames" She also released her latest video, for her new single 'I Knew You Were Trouble', and "Speaking to MTV News she said "It's like a golden video birthday. I realized that like five minutes ago, when someone told me and now I'm all excited about it... I can't believe it lined up like that!"

However, on a slightly less positive note, a man was arrested after being found trespassing on her the grounds of her Nashville home after climbing over the fence to get in, reports Tennessee's News Channel 5. When confronted he claimed that he was Swift's boyfriend and that they were in contact via social media (police think he'd tweeted her a happy birthday message). Even more disturbingly, he was also reportedly carrying a knife and already has a criminal record in relation to a burglary earlier this year.
