Swift will not be in attendance during the show where Kanye West will have four minutes “free reign”.
Taylor Swift will reportedly not be making an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards tomorrow night (August 28th). The ‘Bad Blood’ singer is said to have no plans to attend the ceremony, despite currently being in New York where it will take place.
Taylor Swift will reportedly not be attending the MTV VMAs on Sunday
An insider told People magazine: "Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs.” Swift is not nominated for any awards this year, having not released an album since 1989 dropped in November 2014.
Last year she stole the show by turning up on the red carpet with her “squad” of girlfriends and dueting with Nicki Minaj. She also won the video of the year award for ‘Bad Blood’ and presented Kanye West with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, six years after he infamously interrupted her.
But the past few months have seen Kanye and Taylor’s feud reignited and this might be a good year for Taylor to stay away from the awards. Earlier this week TMZ reported that Kanye will be given ‘four minutes to do with as he pleases’ during the show.
Kanye’s four minutes of free reign come after he spoke for 11 minutes last year while accepting the Video Vanguard Award. During his lengthly speech he famously announced his intention to run for president in the 2020 elections.
