The singer has received the most nods at this year's awards to be hosted by Miley Cyrus
Taylor Swift has topped the MTV VMA award nominations with a staggering total of nine nods. It’s a far cry from 2009 when self-proclaimed "genius" Kanye West interrupted the country singer’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video and claimed it should have gone to his friend, Beyoncé. Looking back, that doesn't look like an entirely ‘genius’ move from Mr West.
Everyone's favourite pop star has topped the nomination list at this year's VMAs
Taylor, whose popularity just continues to grow and grow, has topped the list of the most nominations for this year’s Video Music Awards, which were announced on Apple Music’s Beats 1 platform.
Swifty has received nods in categories including Best Collaboration, Best Female Performance and Video of the Year and she storms ahead of the competition. Her star-studded Bad Blood video has received no fewer than seven mentions.
Pop pal, and British representation, Ed Sheeran has also done well with six nominations.
The awards will be held on 30 August and popstress Miley Cyrus will be taking the helm and presenting.
Cyrus herself is no stranger to VMA controversy and was lambasted by many after her 2013 performance with Robin Thicke that saw her twerking antics hit the headlines.
Miley revealed her role in this year’s ceremony with a tweet that said: "MTV won’t let me perform so I’m hosting this year’s VMAs!"
