Fans got to hear the piano ballad a month early.
It's things like this beautiful intimate performance of her song 'New Year's Day' that makes us so jealous of all the fans that got to join Taylor Swift's secret listening party. A select few got to hear 'Reputation' before anybody else, at her own house in Rhode Island.

Taylor Swift's album listening parties are like nothing else on earth; with each upcoming release, she invites a selection of die-hard fans to her home to hang out with her and listen to the new album in its entirety. With the release of album six 'Reputation', this year was no different.
Surrounded by a hundred hand-picked fans in the living room of her gorgeous Rhode Island residence in October, the 27-year-old popstar performs 'New Year's Day' by candlelight; a romantic piano ballad that's very much the old Taylor, whether she claims that Taylor is dead or not.
With the world premiere performance unveiled by ABC, we see her mesmerised fans swaying and eventually singing along to the infectious lyrics. As well as this once in a lifetime show, they also got to hear a little bit about the making of this song - and indeed each of the others including the stand-out singles 'Look What You Made Me Do', '...Ready For It?' and 'Call It What You Want'.
Taylor drops her new album today (November 10th 2017) via Big Machine Records, and fans can hear the full spectrum of tracks including 'End Game' featuring Ed Sheeran and Future, and the hilariously titled 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things' and 'I Did Something Bad'.
Now we're just waiting on an announcement for her hugely anticipated 'Reputation' World Tour - and hopefully we won't have to wait too long. She hasn't performed on tour since her '1989' tour which ended in December 2015. Fans are starting to get withdrawal symptoms.
