Taylor Swift - Evermore Album Review

Taylor Swift fans can't believe their luck this week as they are gifted with the early Christmas present that is yet another surprise album from their idol. Evermore follows just five months after Folklore; the result of a fruitful creative experience that just never seemed to end for Swift and her team. On the whole, lockdown has been quite the musical success for this pop star.

Taylor Swift - Evermore Album Review

Lead single Willow opens the album with a dose of cool, smooth rock with twinkling synths and the catchiest chorus on the record. Following that is the slower piano ballad of Champagne Problems. There's something about Taylor Swift that makes her so good at melancholy minor drops; she doesn't need to over-produce when her music is so melodically evocative.

On the other hand, she relies on this a little too often on Evermore so we do end up with a few filler tracks. Tolerate It doesn't particularly stand out, nor does the synth-led pop ballad that is Marjorie, or the country-tinged Ivy and Cowboy Like Me. 'Tis The Damn Season is another acoustic track which we hoped would be a little festive, but, alas, there's nothing especially Christmassy about it which we can't help but feel disappointed about.

Fibonacci Day: Inspiring A Numerically Based Playlist That Really Adds Up

Ariana Grande Taylor Swift Dolly Parton The Who The Vaccines The Undertones Wilson Pickett Patti Labelle Feist

As it's Fibonacci Day we thought we'd engage the left side of our brains to come up with a sequence of numerically based tunes that hopefully won't divide opinion. Mathematics, rather like music itself, is generally regarded as an international language of it's own so what better way, in these unprecedented times(!), than to put together an eclectic mix of number themed bangers?

Ariana GrandeAriana Grande

Ariana Grande - 34+35. Ariana's latest single release from her new album, Positions, brings us bang up to date. The saucy, NSFW, lyrically explicit tune, is not shy in coming forward. Ariana's sweet, high, vocal still seems far too innocent to be delivering up such suggestions but hey, she's now the ripe old age of twenty seven so can speak her mind whenever she pleases.

Doja Cat And More Pop Sweethearts Who Embraced A Darker Image

Taylor Momsen Taylor Swift Miley Cyrus Rihanna Christina Aguilera Britney Spears

It seems we're not the only ones whose jaws dropped when we saw Doja Cat crawl out of a television screen The Ring style with a ripped dress, dark make-up and lank hair at the 2020 MTV European Music Awards, only to perform a hard rock rendition of her song Say So. Apart from the fact that the song, and indeed Doja Cat herself, is the most pop thing ever, we just weren't expecting such an alternative side to the singer - and we certainly weren't expecting to love it so much

Not even the best casino bonus would have had us bet on a transformation like this. Though we ought to stop being so shocked when this happens by now; after all, she's not the only pop sweetheart to have made a controversial transformation in recent history. Here are just a few women in music who furthered their success by trading in their innocence...

Along with the Nashville tornado disaster and Riz Ahmed's Brexit truths, we hope music will be a way to bring us together in these tough times.

Music News

The home of country music, Nashville, Tennessee, was struck by four tornadoes on Tuesday (March 3rd) killing 25 people and destroying numerous buildings and homes. Today a benefit gig under the name 'To Nashville, With Love' will take place at the Marathon Music Works, with acts such as Soccer Mommy, Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Dan Auerbach and more set to perform. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has donated $1million to a relief fund and expressed her own devastation over the damage of the city she calls home, and a number of guitar companies such as Gibson, Heritage and Harmony are also offering their support to any musicians who may have lost equipment in the disaster with new replacement schemes.

From Bad Guy To Old Town Road: The 10 Best Singles Of 2019

Billie Eilish Lewis Capaldi Maroon 5 Stormzy Taylor Swift FKA Twigs Slipknot Rammstein

This year has marked quite an explosive end to a decade in terms of music, as we appear to be looking at a future of young musicians doing exactly what they want, how they want, while many long-established artists have refused to compromise their sound to stay relevent. The result is some seriously unapologetic and infectious tunes that will stay on our playlists for a long time to come.

1. Bad Guy - Billie Eilish

She's released without doubt our favourite album of the year with 'When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go?' at the age of just 17, and it's almost impossible to pick any one single to talk about here. 'Bad Guy' however is an example of how pop doesn't have to be the stereotypical sound you're used to hearing, because Billie Eilish has seriously changed the way we think about chart music.

Noel Gallagher Taylor Swift

Every year a handful of new festive tunes flood the airwaves, and some are better than others. This year has been no different, and while we'll always have our favourite Christmas standards like 'Fairytale of New York' and 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', these new songs have rather put a smile on our faces...

Wandering Star - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Definitely one of those anthems that gets a place in our all-time favourite Christmas songs, Noel Gallagher unveiled 'Wandering Star' ahead of the release of his forthcoming EP 'Blue Moon Rising', which is set for release in March 2020. The video for the track stars This Is England actor Stephen Graham as an unlikely Santa.

Taylor Swift Used Facial Recognition Technology At California Gig

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift’s concert at the Rose Bowl in California earlier this year was monitored by a facial recognition system, designed to filter out and bar entry to her many stalkers, it has been revealed.

According to Rolling Stone, which spoke to a concert security expert who worked with the system for the gig back in May, the facial recognition software was built into a kiosk that was displaying recorded highlights of Swift’s rehearsals.

Attendees who looked at the kiosk were secretly scanned by the software, with the data being relayed to a centre in Nashville, Tennessee that matched the hundreds of images with a database of known stalkers that ranges into the hundreds.

Zayn Malik Apparently Confirms Taylor Swift Suitcase Theory

Taylor Swift Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik appears to have confirmed one of the most bizarre celebrity rumours of the last few years, making reference to the strange theory that Taylor Swift travels around in a suitcase.

Yes, if you cast your mind back to the summer of 2017, there was a faintly ridiculous rumour put about after Splash magazine shared a photograph of bodyguards carrying suitcases from Swift’s New York home, with the caption:

“Taylor Swift has been reportedly being transported in a huge suitcase from her Tribeca apartment into her truck. A fleet of cars including two large Cadillacs and three SUVs arrive at Tailor Swift's apartment in Tribeca to move a large suitcase from apartment to truck. Almost a dozen of Taylor Swift security guards were present to move this package carefully as Taylor Swift remains to be unseen for a long time.”
