Veteran singer Daniel O’Donnell and professional boxer Anthony Ogogo have been unveiled as the eighth and ninth contestants for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ 2015.

Irish-born singer O’Donnell announced his participation on Thursday (August 20th), and admitted to feeling nervous despite a lengthy career in showbiz. “It's really happening,” he said, wondering out loud about what kind of standard will be required of him. “I can put a few steps together, but can I dance to the level I need to dance? Well, that's a whole other ball game.”

The 53 year old singer, who has released an astonishing 47 albums since beginning his career in 1984, made a decision a few months ago to take a short break from touring – but now, it seems as if he’ll have an awful lot on his plate during that hiatus.

“I told myself that I would only consider doing something if it was both different and exciting,” he continued. “Well, what could be more exciting than ‘Strictly Come Dancing’? I love to dance and boy am I looking forward to getting started and being the best that I can be.”

On Friday, boxer Anthony Ogogo became the ninth celebrity to throw his hat in the ‘Strictly’ ring. The 26 year old, who won a bronze medal for Team GB at the London Olympics in 2012, reckons that it will prove to be one of his toughest challenges yet.

"I've faced a lot of tough opposition in the past, but I've never faced anyone as tough as the ‘Strictly’ judges before! My mum is a massive fan of the show so I will be trying my hardest to make her proud.”

London-born Ogogo is the first sports star to be unveiled for the 2015 edition of the show, which will start on BBC One in September. He and O’Donnell join previously confirmed contestants Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Katie Derham, Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright, Ainsley Harriott and Jeremy Vine.
