Montezuma - Spielberg is rumoured to be directing a historical drama based on the conflict between 16th century Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés and Aztec emperor Montezuma II. Dalton Trumbo and Steven Zaillian are reported to be penning the script, but little else is known about the project.

It's What I Do - A biopic about American photographer and journalist Lynsey Addario, this will be the first Spielberg-directed movie that Jennifer Lawrence has starred in. It documents the story of when she and four others were captured by the Libyan Army in 2011.

Indiana Jones 5 - This idea has been hanging around for a while but there is still the question of whether or not Harrison Ford will return to the franchise, or if he'll be replaced by a new face. Either way Spielberg is on to direct, so fans of the series will still have that familiarity there.

Ready Player One - In 2017, we can look forward to an original sci-fi thriller starring Olivia Cooke. It's got a 'Hunger Games' feel about it, with the story following a virtual competition where contestants vie for the billion-dollar empire of a video game giant - but the dangers of losing is a lot more real.

Robopocalypse - Among Speilberg's upcoming production credits is this post-apocalyptic robot flick based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson. Chris Hemsworth is rumoured to have been cast in the lead role, and 'The Martin' screenwriter Drew Goddard is in charge of the script.

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun - Peter Jackson and Spielberg switch roles following the first 2011 film, with Jackson now acting as director and Spielberg as producer. Plus, Andy Serkis and Jamie Bell are rumoured to return to their respective roles in this forthcoming sequel. It's reported that they're even working on a third instalment.

Untitled Transformers Spin-off - As executive producer, Spielberg will be involved in another 'Transformers' project - though this time not strictly a sequel. There's no ball-park release date around yet and the plot is as yet unknown.

Real Steel 2 - He'll have a similar level of involvment in the sequel to 2011 sci-fi sports drama 'Real Steel 2' starring Hugh Jackman. Original screenwriter John Gatins has been hired for the follow-up, and Shawn Levy intends to return to direct it.

Halo - A TV venture for Spielberg is his role as executive producer on a live-action adaptation of the popular shooter video game 'Halo'. It's due to air on Showtime, with Neill Blomkamp even cited to direct the pilot episode.

Gremlins - In a move that will divide opinion, he's also getting involved in a re-boot of this popular 80s family film. For 'classic movie' purists, it's no doubt a painful concept to swallow, but with horror writer Carl Ellsworth on the screenplay, it could take a much darker turn than the original.

Untitled Jurassic World Sequel - The newest 'Jurassic Park' follow-up, 'Jurassic World', was a massive success so it's no surprise that another instalment is in the works already. It's been ear-marked for 2018 and is hoping to re-unite Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt.
