Japanese singer/actor Win Morisaki will make his Hollywood film debut in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One.
The star will play Daito in the adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel. The film, set in 2044, follows teenage protagonist Wade Watts as he competes in a virtual-reality game called OASIS in a bid to win the fortune of the creator's founder.
Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, and Mark Rylance will also appear in the movie, which is slated to begin filming later this month (Jun16).
Spielberg is directing and producing the project, according to Variety.com. It is scheduled to hit theatres in 2018.
Morisaki has appeared in several Japanese TV shows and films including Namonaki Doku, Gokusen: The Movie, and Ten no hakobune. He is also the lead singer of boy band PrizmaX.
