Bridge Of Spies Trailer

It's the height of the Cold War and things are getting tense between Russia and America. An American U-2 spy plane has been shot down while photographing Russian bases, its pilot held captive. They're willing to release him, however, if only the American government send back an imprisoned spy of their own. However, by American law, that's virtually impossible - and that's where James Donovan comes in. An insurance lawyer who's never dealt with a case of such high stakes, he is enlisted by the CIA to defend the Russian spy in court in order to have him released and sent home without charge. It seems an impossible task when the whole of America are against setting him free and indeed even neighbours turn against Donovan, targeting his family as he tries to give one man a fair trial.

Spielberg Believes Superhero Movies Have A Shelf Life

Steven Spielberg

If there’s anyone we should listen to about films, it’s probably Steven Spielberg. The multi-award winning director has been at the helm of more movie classics that most of us have had hot dinners - from bringing about the first modern blockbuster with Jaws, to sitting as executive producer on the latest in the highly successful dinosaur franchise, Jurassic World.

Steven SpielbergIf Steven Spielberg says superhero movies will fade out, we believe him

So when the King of the Blockbuster tells you that the current style of superhero movies won’t last, who are we to argue?

Bridge Of Spies - International Trailer

James Donovan is a simple insurance lawyer from Brooklyn, New York whose cases have never evoked too much controversy. However, all that changes quickly when he is enlisted by the CIA to defend a Russian spy in an impossible mission to have him released from prison without charge and returned home. When an American spy plane pilot is shot down during a task of photographing Russian territory, he thankfully survives; however, the angry Russian government are not planning on handing him over too easily. The only problem is, the law is very much not on the side of the Russian spy and in order for their man to be flown home, the government have to find a loophole to release their own captive. Donovan believes everyone deserves a fair trial, but he's one of very few people who do and by putting his life on the line to help his country during the Cold War, he's risking his family too.

'Jurassic World' Success Confirms Hollywood's Starving Us Of Our Favourite Creatures

Chris Pratt Steven Spielberg

The astronomical success of 'Jurassic World' just proves that dinosaurs aren't explored enough in film these days. Sure, people may be desensitised to the terror of the prehistoric monsters - at least, more so than they were in 1993 upon the arrival of 'Jurassic Park' - but this extraordinary re-telling has broken box office records.

Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins in Jurassic WorldYep, kids are definitely not bored of dinosaurs

It has its criticisms and, of course, it doesn't quite have the same effect on audiences as its original predecessor, but 'Jurassic World' has successfully managed to cast some much-needed cinematic nostalgia upon the lovers of the Steven Spielberg classic, so much so that its opening has become the highest-grossing debut of all time.

Bridge Of Spies - US Trailer

In 1960, the hard work of many good people was tested greatly. The height of the Cold War was set to see a series of peaceful negotiation between the Americans and Russians, but a week beforehand, everything changed. An American spy plane was shot down by Russian missiles, carrying pictures of various Russian air force bases. While the US government tried to deny the charges, the Russians were able to provide the pictures, the airplane wreckage, and the pilot - miraculously unharmed. In exchange for his return, they wanted one of their captured spies to be returned. James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks), a simple lawyer, was tasked with creating a case to allow the US government to release the Soviet spy without jail time - a request that seemed almost impossible in the face of Cold War prejudice.

Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper's 1982 haunted house movie 'Poltergeist' is so iconic that remaking it has always scared away filmmakers. Instead, they have merely been mimicking its innovative approach for more than 30 years.

Steven Soderbergh Recuts 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' As Silent Movie

Steven Soderbergh Steven Spielberg

It's nice to know that Steven Soderbergh isn't just spending his retirement sitting around watching Sex, Lies and Videotape or Out of Sight on DVD. The acclaimed director surprised fans on Tuesday (September 23) with a website post that included a recut version of Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, turning it into a black-and-white silent movie to highlight the important of staging in cinema.

Steven SoderberghSteven Soderbergh has recut Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark

Noting that it was a project for "educational purposes only", Soderbergh said: "I operate under the theory a movie should work with the sound off, and under that theory, staging becomes paramount." In some segments, the director replaces the sound with sounds lifted from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's compositions for The Social Network.

The Hundred-Foot Journey Review

Very Good

A relentlessly smiley-glowy tone threatens to undo this film at every turn, but it's just about rescued by a spiky script and the adept cast. Director Lasse Hallstrom has been indulging in warm-fuzzy filmmaking since 2000's Chocolat, and this story (based on the Richard Morais book) seems set in the same fanciful, far too-cute France, created with digital effects rather than cinematography. Nothing is remotely realistic, but the characters are engaging and the food looks absolutely delicious. This is definitely not a film to see on an empty stomach.

The central character is Hassan (90210's Manish Dayal), who was born in India and developed his prodigious gift as a chef with his late mother. Now refugees in Europe, Hassan's Papa (Om Puri) is on a quest to establish a restaurant with his five children. They settle on an impossibly quaint French village, and set up their Indian eatery just across the road from the Michelin-starred restaurant run by the imperious Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren), who of course immediately declares war on these interlopers. Meanwhile, Hassan begins exploring French cookery with Mallory's sexy sous-chef Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon). And his innate expertise catches Mallory's attention.

This simple twist helps propel the story and draw us in, as Hassan proves that he can teach Mallory a thing or two. Where this goes is played out in a simplistic way, but for audience members who are looking for meaning there's quite a bit of insight scattered around the script. Otherwise, Hallstrom is far more interested in superficial imagery, never quite letting the actors dig deep into their characters. Dayal shows some real texture as Hassan, but is reduced in the editing to merely smiling or frowning to show the character's frame of mind. And his relationship with Le Bon's impossibly perky Marguerite is almost painfully predictable.

As the battle for the content streaming crown rages on, Netflix currently sit atop the hill with a smug grin on their face. Atari's 'E.T' Game Found In New Mexico Landfill, Proving Conspiracy Theories

Jesus. So it was true. Atari made a game so bad, that they decided to bury all physical evidence of it in a landfill site in New Mexico, and just hope that nobody found it. E.TThe E.T game legend has come true. Well, it was always true.

The elaborate cover-up had been rumored, with gaming communities suggesting what we now know to be the truth for decades. But the sheer extent to which Atari went to in order to cover up their mistake – a game so bad they’d rather bury their oversupplied stock in the desert than face the music – is quite astounding.
