Underneath the famous Muppet Theatre, oil has been discovered. Tex Richman, an oilman, finds out and plans to demolish the theatre so he can start drilling. Walter, Gary and Mary are three friends who also happen to be huge fans of The Muppets. They plan to stage what they call 'The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever', so they can raise $10 million to stop the destruction of the Muppet Theatre.

Jessica isn't like most of her friends at school, unlike most of the girls in her class she doesn't dream about what she would do if she met her favourite pop star. On a trip to LA to visit her grandmother Jessica has a chance meeting with teenage singing sensation Christopher Wilde. Had she been one of her friends, the first thing Christopher would have been met by a loud and high pitched scream; Jessica on the other hand doesn't seem interested in his fame. As the pair become closer friends Christopher becomes conscious of the fact that he's missing out on a huge part of his life, with paparazzi following his every move and a possible part in a movie he can no longer be himself. When Christopher publically denies he knows Jessica, he unwittingly tests their new friendship a little too much. He must discover what's important in his life and chose what's more important, being a movie start or being himself.
