Spring Offensive are release their new single, Not Drowning But Waving, on Saturday the 8th of September. The track will be available as a limited edition 7" single and as a digital download.
This self-directed video takes us on a journey of guilt and regret on the British coastline. The video accompanies an epic but dark song, and that style is represented in this video. Sombre band members look upon the sea, so often a metaphor for various, and abstract notions of death and loneliness, to portray the feelings aroused by their lyrics. Guitarist and director, Matt Cooper explains his choices: "The video takes the song's narrative beyond the central event, investigating the burden and consequences of guilt; the main character's re-enactment of the drowning by wearing the dead man's clothes and filling the bathroom with things from the beach, could stem from this or from a desire to experience what it is like for the victim." The band have a penchant for self-directing, after making many of their own videos already.
The Oxford quintet have confirmed the tracks availability on 7" vinyl, but fans of the band will have to act quickly, as copies will be limited. In fact, very limited, as every copy will be encased in bespoke packaging assembled by the band themselves. The announcement and release of the video and single marks the beginning of a huge European tour; the dates of which can be found below.
