What better band to headline Hype Hotel Presented by Feed the Beat at SXSW than Austin's own Spoon? The Texan quintet made quite the comeback in 2014, and don't plan on stopping there - they'll be a name on everyone's lips next week.

Spoon to headline Hype Hotel

SXSW may be a time for up and coming bands to make a name for themselves, but it's also a great time to welcome back old faces. Hype Hotel will be hosting 00s indie band Spoon during the festival, which this year will run from March 17th to 21st, with the showcase in question taking place at the Fair Market venue.

Spoon released their first album in four years 'They Want My Soul' in August 2014 through Anti Records and it was an immediate success, reaching number 4 in the US Billboard 200 chart and featuring the immense first single 'Rent I Pay'. The band had never gone so long without releasing a single, and there was doubtless speculation over the band's future in the years that followed previous album 'Transference'. 'They Want My Soul' also marked a departure from Merge Records, with whom they had released five albums from 2001's 'Girls Can Tell'.

The band, who released their debut album 'Telephono' in 1996, have seen a few changes in line-up over the years but now stand with founding members Britt Daniel and Jim Eno as well as Rob Pope, Eric Harvey and Alex Fischel. To promote their newest material, the group recently appeared on 'The Daily Show's rock event, 'Democalypse 2014: South By South Mess'.

Their SXSW appearance comes off the back of their week-long European tour last November, and also succeeds their extensive North American dates, where they played alongside Arcade Fire, Hamilton Leithauser and EMA. This time, they'll be performing alongside the likes of King Tuff, Twin Shadow and San Fermin, as well as newer acts on the scene like Natalie Prass, Daniel Wilson and Lion Babe.
