THE Smashing Pumpkins are set to release a box set of their 1991 debut album GISH this year.

An exact release date or details of what the box set will contain is yet to be disclosed by the band, with a posting on their website reading: "What is to be included on here, no one knows for sure."

However, the band have confirmed that its release will come at the same time as a GISH tour planned for later in 2008.

The band announced last month that they will release a commemorative DVD which will document some of their live shows in the US.

Frontman Billy Corgan told artisannews: "We're working on a DVD that's sort of a documentary of our residency [at legendary San Francisco venue] Fillmore shows."

Corgan also said that next year would see the release of a brand new SMASHING PUMPKINS album, reports Gigwise.
