Sherri Shepherd needed some alone time following her shock exit from Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday (April 10, 2012), skipping her post-show interviews duties with media outlets including US Weekly magazine. Shepherd was surprisingly ousted from the competition, despite a series of high scoring routines.
Instead of speaking to the press about her exit - as is expected of the departing contestants - Shepherd bypassed the press line completely, with a source saying, "She was crying pretty hard post show and everyone was hugging her. It's highly unusual for [the eliminated celeb] to skip press, especially someone who seemed to have a good attitude like Sherri". The 44-year-old had every right to be annoyed following her exit - it was clear that she was not the least talented dancer left in the competition and many fans had high hopes of her winning the show outright. After pulling herself together, The View host did manage to chat with Jimmy Kimmel on his talk-show later that evening, saying, "It was a very big surprise [to be eliminated], Carrie Ann [Inaba] said she's never seen me so expressionless, and I'm an actress, so that's like telling Gladys Knight she can't sing. As an actress, Carrie Ann's going to get me blacklisted".
Shepherd was dumfounded as to how she got the boot, especially after getting the backing of her View co-stars, saying, "Barbara [Walters] voted 12 times the first week, Elisabeth [Hasselbeck] tweeted [about it], Joy [Behar] was rooting for me - I know all my ladies were there for me every step of the way".
