Not content with homing one of the planets finest musical grandstands with South By Southwest; Austin, Texas is also home to some serious talent itself with Shearwater firmly placed among the city's top musical exports. Hot off the release of the bands eight venture together, February 14th's Animal Joy, Jonathan Meiburg and co. have released the impressive new video for the single 'You As You Were' through Sub Pop. Caught somewhere between Ingmar Bergman and the Gruffalo director Alix Lambert has done herself proud in creating a video that appropriately matches the raw emotion that Shearwater conjure within the song itself.
For a band as stirring as Shearwater are it is unfortunate that they have yet to reach the heady-height as their contemporaries such as the National or Sufjan Stevens. With Animal Joy and the backing they've received from Sub Pop along the way, the collective finally look to break into the world of indie superstardom and are out promoting their new release now. Having already performed at this years SXSW the group are now in the midst of a full European tour and will be undertaking a five-date tour of England and Scotland before heading back over to the continent.
The UK tour dates are:
30/03/12 : The Haunt - Brighton (UK)
31/03/12 : The Deaf Institute - Manchester (UK)
01/04/12 : Stereo - Glasgow (UK)
02/04/12 : The Cellar - Oxford (UK)
03/04/12 : Scala - London (UK)
