She Wants Revenge Self Titled Album Album

Surely one of the best starts to an album I've heard in a long while. The opening track, Red Flags and Long Nights, begins with repetitive, swelling guitars and bass, building tension and anticipation. Sadly, when the vocal finally kicks in it sounds rather clichéd and disappointing.

There's a very self-conscious, deliberately 80s style going on here, with almost a dash of Goth chucked into the mix. Like so many other bands on the scene right now, it harks back to 80s Manchester and electro-pop, but doesn't seem to offer any fresh perspective. But if you're looking for the legacy of The Psychedelic Furs and Heaven 17, then here's a good place to start.
Released on Fred Durst's label, Flawless, expect 12 tracks of solid retro posturing.
