Shay Mitchell is fed up of trying to please people.

The 'Pretty Little Liars' star isn't worried about what people think of her anymore as long as she is ''happy and proud of the person'' she is.

Sharing her top tips for 20-somethings, she said: ''You can't please everyone. Stop trying to be a people-pleaser and just aim to please yourself first. If you are happy and proud of the person you are and what you have accomplished before you fall asleep at night, that is all that matters.

''Don't judge people. You can't even begin to imagine what other people have going on in their lives. Everyone has their own story - you just need to try your best to be understanding of others.''

The 29-year-old actress also urged her fans to take more time for themselves and travel the world.

She added: ''Take some time for yourself every now and then. Go to the movies solo and just enjoy the giant tub of popcorn by yourself! Or go for a hike to clear your head and get the recharge you are craving for the work week.

''The world is not a big, scary place. Big, yes, but scary ... no. More like exciting, invigorating, and waiting to be explored! Travel has made the biggest impact on me during my twenties and the people I have met along the way have changed me to my core.''

And Shay also admitted she has learned a lot about friendship over the last few months.

She told Cosmopolitan.com: ''Don't force a friendship. This has been one of the hardest lessons to grasp.

''Lately I have been realising some friends will stick around and others won't, and that's okay. The friendships that you put work into and bring you joy in return will give you more than any job or career ever could.''
