Seth Rogen has done some funny stuff, and he’s done some not so funny stuff. And by his admission, it was difficult to find a studio to make his latest movie, This Is The End. Two things are hoped for any movie: high critical praise and high box office receipts. And considering the film comes out tomorrow, we can only tell you about one of those.

So, the reviews: like Rogen’s, some of them have been good, some of them have been pretty bad. And bearing a startling resemblance to Rogan’s work, some of them have been pretty middle of the road. “Just one great big goofy joke. Some funny stuff, but a rental/download only,” says The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw in his three-star review. “The players flap, mug and pratfall. Then they flap, mug and pratfall some more. The script is an open text: they can bring their own jokes. The audience is still waiting for one when the film closes,” say The Financial Times.

Despite the so-so reviews, This is The End has amassed a pretty respectable score of 82% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Film Four were fans, and wrote the kind of review that saw it score such a high percentage. “Loads funnier - and smarter - than it sounds on paper, and well worth watching for the unflinching Hollywood satire, even if you're sick of Apatow-esque bromantic comedies.”

Rogen and his buddies play themselves in this latest bromance comedy, which sees the end of the world dawn upon the comedic funsters. It comes out tomorrow, Friday 28th, and we’ll be able to tell you if it matched the critical responses with a box office performance.
