This mistake must have left the Beverly Hills Police Department feeling very embarrassed.
On Thursday (Aug 21st) reports were circling around the web that claimed the former Stone Temple Pilots frontman, Scott Weiland, was arrested and has been in jail for the last four weeks, could not have been more wrong.
Weiland confirmed via a Facebook video that he was not arrested
TMZ first reported that Weiland was arrested on July 26th for shoplifting and drug possession after police allegedly caught him stealing razors from a Beverly Hills drug store, as well as having meth on him.
It didn't take lone of the 46 year-old rocker to squash this report, and to do so he posted a video via Facebook that was recorded in a Las Angeles recording studio to prove he wasn't' incarcerated.

"I've actually been touring, writing and recording my new album," the former Velvet Revolver frontman said in the clip. "In the studio we're in right now. A Los Angeles studio. All I have to say to our fans is, whether you found it funny, or interesting or whether you were sad, don't worry. Don't fret, it's a lie. TMZ you will be hearinf from my attorneys."
A few hours after this video was uploaded the Beverly Hills Police Department, who must have felt highly embarrassed after realizing their mistake, clarified what actually happened in a statement. A completely different man, a 44 year-old named Jason Michael Hurley, had been arrested and "identified himself as former Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland."

Following his arrest, Hurley was processed and booked as a 46-year-old inmate named Scott Weiland. But now police are wanting to charge the imposter for providing false information to law enforcement officer.
