Scissor Sisters' new single, Shady Love, marks the return of the New York based band. It features the vocals of Krystal Pepsy (also known as Azealia Banks). It is the lead single from their anticipated fourth album. Shady Love will be available to download on February 12th, 2012.
The video for Shady Love does not feature the band or Krystal Pepsy. A sign which reads 'Norhwest Lake Elementary School' is the setting for the Hiro Murai directed clip. Several young children perform a slightly racy scene to the unimpressed audience, made up of parents and grandparents. Nevertheless, it goes down well with the elderly pianist accompanying them.
Scissor Sisters were formed in New York in 2001, with vocalists Jake Shears and Ana Matronic; multi-instrumentalist Babydaddy; lead guitarist and bassist Del Marquis and drummer Paddy Boom. Their first two albums, Scissor Sisters (2004) and Ta-Dah! (2006) were a success in the UK, both reaching the top spot in the album charts but not so in their native US. In 2008, Paddy left the band and was subsequently replaced by Randy Real. Night Work, their third album, was released in 2010 and was just as popular as the previous two albums, reaching Number 2 in the UK.
The band's most well-known singles include Comfortably Numb (a cover of the Pink Floyd classic), Filthy/Gorgeous, Laura and I Don't Feel Like Dancing (which featured their main influence, Elton John, on the piano).
Scissor Sisters are currently touring in Australia and Asia but will soon finish work on their upcoming album.
