The 48-year-old actress commented on how life had changed for her and her husband. Despite the materialism we associate with Parker, primarily because of her role as Carrie in Sex and the City, she claims when she was starting out "the trappings" of fame were never a priority.
Parker, in the Harper's Bazaar interview, said "when we were young people, all we ever wanted was to be good working actors. We didn't think of fame or money because, honestly, money was never part of the dream."She went on to say their motivation as actors was "to work in theatre, to be around those people whose work I was in total awe of."

Parker has been married to Broderick for 16 years and was initially surprised their relationship was the subject of gossip as they "come from a different time and place." Hence she said: "when our marriage came up in conversation, it wouldn't occur to us that we were obligated to respond to allegations of gossip." Yet, despite being constantly in the public eye, Parker added: "I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him."
The couple have been married since 1997 and have three children together: a son James Wilkie Broderick and twin girls, Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge. On the subject of their family life, Parker said "we're very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he's the father of my children, and it's because of him there's this whole other world that I love."
Parker's latest film appearance is in Lovelace in which she plays journalist Gloria Steinem. The film starring Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia); Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead); Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) and Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct) tells the true story of Linda Lovelace, a pornstar who was controlled by her violent husband.
