Barney's department store in NYC has had its Christmas window display unveiled by Sarah Jessica Parker. This year's stunning display centres on Disney's Minnie Mouse and a short film starring the adorable character as she longs after a stunning Lanvin dress, before being whisked into a fashion world which features the cartoon version of some of fashion's icons, including SJP herself, as well as Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell.

New York, aside from being the centre of the world in many respects, is also the centre of Christmas. Iconic American Christmas movies that dominate the season, drawing the family around the television for re-runs over the few baubled days, are largely set in New York; Miracle on 34th Street (both the beautiful black and white original, or the Mara Wilson '90's remake), Will Ferrell's Elf, Home Alone II and of course, It's a Wonderful Life. All these NYC movies personify the festive season. So, New York's department stores are also the iconic Christmas window and this year Barneys has outdone itself.

The short film is called 'Electric Christmas' in which all the greats are featured; Lanvin, Balenciaga, Dolce and Gabanna, Proenza Schouler, Rik Owens, Nina Ricci and Balmain. Vogue reports that Harrods has teamed up with Disney for their festive season as well.

Mark Lee, the Barneys CEO attended, as did Disney's Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, reports the Daily Mail. Lee explained the thinking behind the window: "Disney came up on a very short list of dreams - thinking about if we could do anything, what would we do?" And Luis Fernande, the senior vice president for the creation of Disney Consumer Products, agreed that the pairing between iconic animation and iconic fashion is perfect.  "A huge force in fashion and a huge force in animation. What better than for these two companies to get together and do something for the holidays?"
