The U.K. premiere of Oscar-nominated movie THE BLIND SIDE has been axed - because the film's star Sandra Bullock has pulled out of attending.
The red carpet screening of the hit movie was due to take place in London's famous Leicester Square next Tuesday (23Mar10) but has now been cancelled by bosses at film giant Warner Bros.
A spokeswoman for an agency handling publicity for the movie said the decision was made after Bullock informed organisers she was no longer available to travel across the Atlantic for the event.
The rep tells WENN, "Because Sandra isn't coming any more, there isn't going to be an actual premiere. She isn't coming over, no. I don't know the reason why. We just had the message relayed to us this morning.
"All the people who were invited to the premiere will still get to see the film, but there won't be the media events. All plans are off but the film will still be screened."
Bullock scooped the Best Actress Oscar at the ceremony earlier this month (Mar10) for her performance as Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie. It was also nominated for Best Motion Picture, but lost out to The Hurt Locker.
