Fact: British Oscar nominee Samantha Morton and Hong Kong director Peter Chan will join producer Michael Mann on the Venice Film Festival jury when the event kicks off in Italy next month (Aug12). Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman and French actress/model Laetitia Casta will also serve on the nine-person panel, which will determine the winners of the prestigious Golden Lion awards.

Fact: WALL-E director Andrew Stanton's movie adaptation of EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS' JOHN CARTER OF MARS is becoming a star-studded affair - British trio Samantha Morton, Polly Walker and Dominic West have been added to the cast. The threesome will join Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe in the Disney film, which chronicles a Civil War veteran's mysterious transportation to Mars.
