Sam Smith Teams Up With Balenciaga For Their A/W Line, Stars In Sultry Campaign Video & Photos

Sam Smith has collaborated with European fashion house Balenciaga for their Autumn/Winter line. Smith and the company shared the campaign video and pictures on Thursday (16th July).
Sam Smith has turned to designing and modelling. The 23-year-old British singer has collaborated with Balenciaga for their upcoming Autumn/Winter collection. He announced the collaboration to his fans on Instagram on Wednesday (15th July) and the European fashion house confirmed the news on Thursday.

‘So honoured and ecstatic to announce my collaboration with @balenciaga on the upcoming FW15 Menswear campaign!!!’ Smith captioned one of his many Instagram posts on Wednesday.
The ‘Stay With Me’ singer looks his usual tortured self in the one-minute-long promotional video which is shot in black and white. In the very arty and abstract video, Smith appears to be hopelessly searching for a way out of a domed room. There’s also a series of photographs which go alongside the video.
Balenciaga released a statement alongside the images in which they explained why Smith was the perfect fit to act as the face of their Autumn/Winter line.
"Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for Balenciaga,” Creative Director Alexander Wang said (via the HuffPost). “He represents both sensitivity and power - the dualities of the Balenciaga man.”

Smith also made a statement in the company’s release in which he described his excitement at having the opportunity to work with Balenciaga.
"I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be wearing these clothes let alone modelling them. So this is a dream come true, and I hope the beginning of a lovely long relationship with Alexander and the House," Smith said.
Smith joins the likes of supermodels Kate Moss and Gisele who have previously acted as the face of Balenciaga.
In other new, Smith recently recovered from throat surgery. Smith was hospitalised in May with a vocal cord haemorrhage and had to undergo surgery. He was ordered to avoid speaking and singer for a number of months. Fortunately, just in time for his American tour, he’s fully recovered. He announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, describing his throat as looking ‘BLOODY FANTASTIC’.
