The Stay With Me hitmaker has not performed publicly since he cancelled tour dates at the start of May (15) to seek treatment for a vocal cord haemorrhage.

He flew to the U.S. for an operation and was unable to speak for nearly a month while his throat healed.

However, Smith has now proved he is recovering well by making his first stage appearance since the surgery at the British Summer Time Festival in London's Hyde Park on Sunday, when Rodgers gathered a large crowd onstage to dance and sing along to Chic hits, including Good Times.

Smith appeared onstage along with other revellers including British supermodel Cara Delevingne and her socialite sister Poppy.

The singer later shared a picture of himself with Rodgers on Instagram.com and wrote, "Loved seeing one of my favourite people today!! @nilerodgers!! Every time I see you perform it brings me so much happiness."

Smith is set to return to the stage for his first official show since his surgery at the Forest Live festival in Suffolk, England on 3 July (15).
