Russell Crowe will take on the titular hero who, for some reason, is picked out by God to save all the world's creatures by building an ark to protect them when a flood is sent to purge the world of evil people. Jennifer Connelly will star as his wife, Naameh, whilst Anthony Hopkins will star as Methuselah with Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Kevin Durand in supporting roles.

Rather than a peacefully religious man, as might be more the depiction at Sunday School, Crowe's Noah is a warrior on a mission for survival in a world of savagery and evil. However, otherwise Noah appears to stick very well to the Old Testament story without being watered down and mixed with the same old Hollywood pitfalls of romance, comedy or unnecessary horror.
