O'Donnell, who first co-hosted the show in 2007, chose not to discuss her surprise departure on Monday's episode of 'The View,' but she did upload a YouTube video later that day to explain why she has decided to leave for a second time.

In the video, posted Monday afternoon, O'Donnell stated that she wants to focus more on her health after suffering a heart attack two years ago. "Stress is very bad for heart attack survivors," she said in the clip.

"You should minimize your stress, maximize your exercise and control your diet. That's what you need to do for a healthy heart. So that's what I'm doing. I'm minimizing my stress by leaving 'The View.'"

The 52-year-old comedienne also discussed her five children, four of whom are teenagers, and admitted that while she cannot stop being stressed at home, she can prevent the pressure at work by leaving the ABC show.

"There's lots of stuff going on at home and there's lots of stuff going on at work," O'Donnell confessed, adding "The only thing I can really control is the work, by leaving."

When news of her departure first broke, it was believed that O'Donnell was leaving due to the breakdown of her marriage to Michelle Rounds, whom she wed in 2012 and adopted a baby girl with in 2013. The pair have reportedly been living separately since November.

The split was confirmed by O'Donnell's representative Cindi Berger, who told Page Six in a statement, "I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November."

"Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.' Next week will be her last."

O'Donnell's last episode of 'The View' will be on Thursday.
