The MTV Movie Awards happened last night and there were plenty of memorable moment – but for any Marvel fans, the biggest deal had to be the Avengers: Age of Ultron clip, which premiered during the show – the second, since the trailer, which debuted during March Madness.

Robert Downey Jr.
RDJ was congratulated by his friends and co-stars on his award.

The clip was introduced by Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr., who took the stage to accept the Generation Award and he gave an unusually humble and moving speech. The actor, whose speeches are usually full of wisecracks, said: "In the 34 years that have passed since the birth of MTV, I've grown up, I've struggled, I've failed. I've partied way too much. I begged for second chances and literally clawed my way to the top."

He then introduced the clip, which featured himself as Iron Man, launching a full-on assault. It's pretty much the ultimate fight scene, with Ironman leaving total destruction in his wake. As per usual, Marvel look likely to top their previous in-movie destruction record.

To round the Avengers theme of the night, RDJ’s co-stars were on hand to present him with the prestigious award and, of course, to celebrate. They even presented him with the award, complete with hilarious bowing. No news on whether the whole cast went for shawarma after.

Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres on May 1st.
