Robert Downey Jr. continues his reign as the King of the Box Office.
It’s that time of the year again. With Forbes having published its annual list of Hollywood’s richest, it’s time to calculate exactly how many times Robert Downey Jr’s paycheck for a single movie can cover your annual salary. Hint: many times.
RDJ won. No surprises there, right?
For the second year in a row, Mr. Downey topped the actors list with a stunning $75 million earned between June 2013 and June 2014. Downey, who restored his career with the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the eponymous Marvel franchise, has now become irreplaceable for the studio and thus, earned himself substantial pay increases for the Iron Man and Avengers sequels.

While Downey’s top spot isn’t really a surprise, the runner-up came out of left field this year – it’s Dwayne Johnson with $52 million. Johnson has shown himself to be incredibly business savvy with his transition into a full-time movie career. In recent years, he has bagged roles in several franchises, including G. I. Joe, Fast and Furious and now, Hercules, which industry insiders claim may have franchise potential. And let’s not forget the Rock’s budding TV career with the HBO show Ballers. Johnson is executive producing and starring in the comedy about a group of football players.
The Rock just keeps on rolling. In a movie fortune, that is.
Bradley Cooper, another franchise star, thanks to The Hangover, came in third with $46 million. Cooper manages the delicate balance of blockbusters with passion projects like Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Read the full list over on the Forbes website.
