It really pays to be 'Iron Man' for Robert Downey Jr.
The Avengers and Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has topped Forbes list of the world's highest paid actors for the third year in a row, taking home a massive $80million last year. The star’s ranking was said to have be greatly helped by the Chinese box office, where Downey’s latest offering The Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed $240 million.
Robert Downey Jr has been named the world’s highest paid actor by Forbes magazine.
In the number two spot was Hong Kong born action star Jackie Chan, who raked in an impressive $50 million thanks to the release of Dragon Blade. Following Chan at number three was another somewhat surprising entrant, Vin Diesel, whose role in mega-hit Furious 7 saw him take home $47 million.

This weekend's box office were predictable, but still disappointing.
This weekend at the box office – things went exactly as predicted, in that Avengers maintained its top spot, making bank with another $77.2 million, making it the film with the second highest sophomore weekend gross of all time. It surpassed the second weekend of Fox’s Avatar ($75.6 million) but fell behind predecessor Marvel’s The Avengers ($103.1 million).
Despite receiving favourable reviews, Hot Pursuit didn't do too well at the box office.
Directed by Joss Whedon, Age of Ultron follows superheroes Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) as they battle the new villain of the franchise, technological ultra baddie Ultron (James Spader). Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson also star in the film as twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, aka (this isn’t a spoiler, they were in the trailer) Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

The 'Sherlock' and 'The Hobbit' actor has signed up to join the Marvel universe.

The 43 year old actor has gained worldwide recognition for his extremely popular depiction of Dr John Watson in the BBC’s newest adaptation of ‘Sherlock’ alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, and for his role as Bilbo Baggins in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy. Now, he’s entering the Marvel universe, according to the part-Disney-owned Marvel studios on Tuesday.

How will this affect the movie's profits, if at all?
While Avengers: Age of Ultron is expected to be an easy success for Marvel, it's not all sunshine and roses for the upcoming release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, theatres in 193 German towns are boycotting the film and will not be screening it on release day.
Many German viewers might not be given access to the new Avengers movie. How bad is this for Disney?
The reason? Deutsche Welle cites Disney's raised rental fees for the movie, with a total of 686 screens - not enough to make a considerable dent in Disney's profits from the film, it is still a bold statement on the part of cinema owners. Cinema owners told DW that they were taken aback when Disney announced it was upping the fee from 47.7 to 53 percent of ticket sales. Additionally, Disney is cutting its advertising spend and will not provide advances for 3D glasses.

Unless you're James Cameron, it's hard to imagine that your movie is going to end up in the top three highest grossing films of all time. The cast of 'The Avengers' certainly didn't.
With 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' set for release in parts of the world this week, Robert Downey Jr. took some time to talk about his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man - the character who started the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008. But, as it turns out, when the cast got together in 2012 to film the first 'Avengers' movie, none of them really knew just how big it would turn out to be.
Robert Downey Jr. in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'
"I don't think any of us really expected how huge the first one would be, so it can almost intimidate you a bit because you're like, 'Oh, well we were just kinda hoping it would work out', and now there's this expectation to deliver". Presumably they weren't expecting the film to become the third highest grossing movie of all time (behind 'Avatar' and 'Titanic') with 1,518,594,910 USD worldwide in 2012.

Marvel fans will love the action mayhem in this Avengers sequel, but everyone else will vividly feel the fatigue that has descended over this franchise. After the bright spark of originality in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy, we're back to the same tired formula involving terrific actors battling for screen time in between gratuitous, brutal action sequences that are so digitally animated that they're technically cartoons.
The film opens in the middle of the action as Captain America (Chris Evans) leads Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner) to recapture an Asgardian sceptre. Tony then discovers that the sceptre could be useful for Ultron, his artificial intelligence project to create a global peacekeeping force. But this goes badly wrong as Ultron (James Spader) springs to life and decides instead to obliterate humanity to make space for his population of smart machines. So the team races from America to Africa, Korea and Eastern Europe, facing off against Ultron and his super-powered twin cohorts Pietro and Wanda (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen), who of course defect to the Avengers. They also get help from a human-computer entity called The Vision (Paul Bettany).
Yes, there are a lot of characters in this film, and writer-director Joss Whedon is exceptionally good at giving each of them something to do, both dramatically and in the thick of the action. These brief moments of humour and emotional depth are what make the movie enjoyable, giving the solid actors some meaty material to play with.

Robert Downey Jr walked out of an interview with Kristin Guru-Murphy.
You've probably seen it by now - Robert Downey Jr storming out of an interview with Channel 4's Kristin-Guru Murphy after the line of questioning turned quite sharply from Avengers: Age of Ultron to the actor's previous dalliances with drugs and jail.
Robert Downey Jr stormed out of an interview with Kristin-Guru Murphy
Guru-Murphy first asked the actor to explain a past quote he gave to the New York Times in which he said: "I have a really interesting political point of view, and it's not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here. But you can't go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal."

The 'Iron Man' actor was talking about his new movie 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' with Channel 4's Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
Robert Downey Jr. abruptly ended and walked out of an interview on Wednesday after a line of personal questioning.
The 50 year old actor was speaking to Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy about his new film Avengers: The Age of Ultron when he shut the whole thing down, saying “It’s getting a little Diane Sawyer in here,” referencing the famous news anchor.
The interview seemed to be going very well, with Guru-Murthy asking questions the character of ‘Iron Man’, the qualities that Downey has brought to the role, and whether he was a fan of comic book heroes and superheroes as a youngster.

He spent some time discussing where his character was at the beginning of the film, and what he takes his time to do over the course of the film, as well as explaining the dynamic between the cast and the director, Joss Whedon.
