Rocker Rob Thomas Has Postponed A Series Of Dates On His Current U.s. Tour After Learning His Wife Requires Brain Surgery.
The Matchbox Twenty frontman went public with the news of his wife Marisol's health crisis on Facebook.com on Friday (10Jul15) as he thanked devotees for their continued support during what he describes as "a bit of a rough patch".
He wrote, "Last week, after an MRI for something unrelated, doctors saw what seems to be a lesion on the base of Mari's brain.
"We are being cautiously optimistic that this is something we caught early and can take care of in the near future but, as I'm sure you can all understand, we had to temporarily postpone some of the tour dates so that we can focus only on this for a while."
Thomas continued, "We are so thankful for all of your well wishes and really believe in the good that positive energy can do.
"While this is all we are focused on right now, we will get through it and be able to share many more moments together and with all of you in the future. Thanx (sic) for your love and understanding."
All July (15) shows on the Great Unknown tour have been rescheduled, with the exception of a gig in Highland Park, Illinois on Saturday (18Jul15), which will go ahead as planned.
Meanwhile, Thomas is facing a minor health issue of his own after struggling through a gig in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday.
Taking to Twitter.com after the show, he revealed he had been diagnosed with a respiratory ailment.
He wrote, "so glad i know it's a bronchial infection. it will heal now. thanx (sic) for sticking with me Phoenix!!"
