Pharrell Williams' olN*E*R*D band NERD makes a comeback with Rihanna in tow for their first single in seven years entitled 'Lemon'. It's a pure rap number, with no melodic vocals from the Barbadian goddess, but she proves to be just as good at spoken word as she is at singing.

Directed by Todd Tourso and Scott Cudmore, the new video for the track, which dropped on Wednesday (November 1st 2017), has already received more than three million views and kicks off with Rihanna shaving the head of a female dancer named Mette Towley who has been part of Pharrell's dance troupe The Baes since 2014.

The rest of the video is Mette performing a solo routine while miming along to the lyrics of 'Lemon'. If you are wondering what prompted her to go to the extreme lengths of shaving off all her hair, she previously admitted to E! News that she'd 'take a buzz over curls any day'.

Rihanna's collaboration with NERD (No-one Ever Really Dies) is not entirely her first venture as a rapper. While she usually provides the singing vocals for rap songs, like Eminem's 'Monster' among others, her voice has occasionally teased itself into rap territory with the likes of 'B***h Better Have My Money' and Kendrick Lamar's 'Loyalty'. However, this is the first time she's gone out-and-out hip hop, and it turns out she's a natural.

There's no word yet on whether or not NERD plan to drop a new album anytime soon to follow up 2010's 'Nothing', and meanwhile it's coming up to that time where we're dying to hear from Rihanna again. She completed her 'Anti World Tour' more than a year ago, and with this teasing reinvention of herself, we can't wait for what she does next.
