Fitness Guru Richard Simmons was reportedly hospitalised on Friday night (June 3) for ‘bizarre conduct’. According to TMZ, Simmons was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday after someone in his home called 911 because he was ‘acting in an unusually strange manner’, just before midnight.

Sources told the gossip site that paramedics rushed to Simmons’ home and evaluated him, determining he should go to a hospital for further evaluation. Simmons is said to have agreed to be taken to the hospital and it is not yet known if he has been released.

Simmons has not be seen in public for over two years and back in March there was concern that the 67-year-old was being held hostage in his own home by his longtime housekeeper, Teresa Reveles. However Simmons dismissed the rumours during two phone interviews where he said he was just taking a break from the spotlight.

Simmons told the ‘Today’ programme: "No one is holding me in my house as a hostage. You know, I do what I want to do as I've always done so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because like I'm Richard Simmons!

"Teresa Reveles has been with me for 30 years. It's almost like we're a married couple. I just sort of wanted to be a little bit of a loner for a little while,’ he added. "For all the people that were worrying about me, I want to tell them that I love them with my whole heart and soul and that not to worry, Richard's fine. You haven't seen the last of me. I'll come back, and I'll come back strong."
