Radiohead are well on their way to releasing their special 20th anniversary re-release of their landmark 1997 album 'OK Computer' which they have named 'OKNOTOK'. Now they unveil an eeries new video for one of the previously unheard tracks, 'I Promise' now available to stream.
It's an almost ethereal strings number and it's one of the three previously unreleased tracks that will feature on the anniversary collection, along with 'Lift' and 'Man Of War'. It's a catchy song with the raw original Radiohead aesthetic.
The video, directed by Michal Marczak (who also did 'Identikit' from 'A Moon Shaped Pool'), sees people staring pensively out of the window on a tram at night, particularly one man who is resting his head on a table or ledge. His eyes feel spookily wide and a little robotic with their limited movement, and it's only at the end of the video that it's revealed that it is in fact a disembodied mechanical head.
As well as three new songs, 'OKNOTOK' also features the entirety of 'OK Computer' completey remastered from the original tapes, along with the eight b-sides. The 1997 classic was the band's third album and was co-produced by Nigel Godrich. It was their first to top the UK charts and won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance.
There's also a full boxed edition going which will come with 12 inch vinyl records, a special cassette mix tape, a notebook of frontman Thom Yorke's notes and a sketchbook of containing the doodles of album artist Stanley Donwood.
Radiohead released their last studio album in 2016 with 'A Moon Shaped Pool' featuring the singles 'Burn the Witch' and 'Daydreaming'. It was their first album to get to number one in nearly 10 years.
'OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 - 2017' will be released on June 23rd 2017 through XL Recordings.
