When it comes to remixing (or reimagining) golden oldies, it can either sound very good (take Norman Cook's work with countless blues numbers) or very bad indeed (tune into Radio 1 for a smorgasbord of terrible remakes and rehashes). PNAU would always be likely to raise eyebrows when they were chosen to re-working Sir Elton John's back catalogue, but when you've been hand-picked by the man himself then you have to imagine that Elton is a guy who knows what he wants.

Interview with PNAU

Celebrity backings don't get much bigger than Sir Elton John, so when he asked PNAU to reinvent some of his extensive back catalogue they naturally jump to the chance. With Good Morning to the Night set to be released next month (July 16th) and a co-headlining slot alongside him in Ibiza at the start of July, Pnau are not only reinventing John, but presenting him to the world as the new don of electronic music with themselves as the ever-faithfully sidekicks.

PNAU - Sad


'Sad', due for release on July 16th, is the second single to be released from the mash-up project of Australian dance duo PNAU and Elton John. The new single to be released from the collaborative album Good Morning To The Night is set to be released on the same day as the album and maintains the same impressive reimagining of Elton's work as previous single, the titular 'Good Morning To The Night'.

PNAU, Soft Universe Album Review


For the uninitiated, Pnau are Australian duo Peter Mayes and Nick Littlemore, and Soft Universe is their fourth outing since their d'but Sambanova, was released in 2000. They may well have passed you by, although an eponymous third release gathered plenty of acclaim but little by way of sales outside their home county a few years ago. The name Littlemore may ring more than a few bells though, not probably because of his involvement in Teenager, the band he shared a berth with Pip "Ladyhawke" Brown in, but probably because of his involvement as one half of Empire of The Sun.
