British rapper Plan B has won two awards at a French film festival celebrating the best of U.K. cinema for his directorial debut Ill Manors.

The star, real name Benjamin Ballance-Drew, has received critical and commercial acclaim for the gritty movie, and he was honoured for his work at the Dinard British Film Festival this week (ends07Oct12).

Ill Manors landed the Heartbeat Award (Prix Coup de Coeur) as well as the Technicolor Award for best cinematography.

Jury members at the festival included Celia Imrie and actor Raza Jaffrey, and the panel named political drama Shadow Dancer, which stars Clive Owen and Andrea Riseborough, as the recipient of the coveted Golden Hitchcock Award. It also won the Prix Public honour, which is chosen by the festival's audiences.
