Hoffman's overdose came after a stint in rehab, after which the actor had appeared to be in recovery.

Hoffman was found dead in his Greenwich Village apartment on February 2 after an apparent drug overdose. After a long period of assumed abstinence, the actor was discovered on the bathroom floor with a needle still stuck in his arm. Several news outlets report that a number of bags of heroin, labeled Ace of Spades and Ace of Hearts, were also found on location.

Later in the week, three arrests were made during a drugs bust, with the police suspecting that the source of Hoffman’s heroin may have been found. So far, the evidence is limited to Hoffman’s phone number having been discovered on each of the three suspects’ cell phones. Following the wake, a private funeral has been set up for Friday with a memorial service to follow later this month.

Meanwhile, the evidence found during Hoffman's autopsy has been deemed inclonclusive and further tests are needed to determine what killed him, the AP also reports.
